Joyce Hatch sent in the following tips:

Save those long plastic bags your newspaper comes in, those make excellent bags for your trash at the table. They don’t get in the way, as they are long and slim and they hold a lot of trash.

Keep those caps from your brush cleaner, they make excellent replacements for broken caps, they are easy to clean. I keep those bottles from brush cleaner to hold “mixed” base coat paint, again easy to clean.

Indian Girl Gourd Class – A sweet success

Many thanks to Donna Carpenter for starting off the new year with her Indian Girl on a gourd class. You should see how sweet the faces turned out on the little girls! The participants seemed especially happy to learn Donna’s technique for transferring a pattern to the rounded surface. Thank you, Donna.

MEMORY BOXES—JULY 2010 PAINT-IN

Thanks to all who attended the Memory Box Outreach Program. What a wonderful day we had. Very relaxing atmosphere, with lunch delivered, and a walk around the room with many beautifully designed memory boxes. I hope to see this program remain as one of our projects each year.

Blind Date Cake – Recipe from Kenna Perrin

1 1/4 c. chopped Sunsweet dates (in a packet by the canned fruit)

1 1/4 c. very hot water

1 tsp. baking soda

Mix all above and cool

Cream:

1 c. butter ( yes 1cup!)

1 c. sugar

Mix and add:

2 eggs

1 1/2 c. flour

¼ tsp. salt

2 T. cocoa ¼ c chocolate chips

Place in 9 x 13 pan

Mix:

½ c. chocolate chips

½ c. sugar

Sprinkle on the top

Bake at 350 for 35 minutes!!
