Blind Date Cake – Recipe from Kenna Perrin

1 1/4 c. chopped Sunsweet dates (in a packet by the canned fruit)
1 1/4 c. very hot water
1 tsp. baking soda
Mix all above and cool
Cream:
1 c. butter ( yes 1cup!)
1 c. sugar
Mix and add:
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. flour
¼ tsp. salt
2 T. cocoa ¼ c chocolate chips
Place in 9 x 13 pan
Mix:
½ c. chocolate chips
½ c. sugar
Sprinkle on the top
Bake at 350 for 35 minutes!!
